D-One National Championships
D-One National Championships (8th-11th August)
Welcome: All entrants are temporary members of SSSC during the event, and are welcome to use the bar and Galley which are open most of the time.
Car Parking: There is parking within the club grounds on a first come, first serve basis. Alternatively, there is a pay and display car park on River Drive next door to the sailing club, £3/day. Note there is a height restriction for any vans or campervans.
Camping: Limited camping / camper van parking will be available on site. Please specify on your entry if you require camping space.
Entry: £100 (including Friday & Saturday meal) until 7th July
£125 after 7th July.
Registration: You will be able to register and weigh in upstairs at the club from 09:30 – 11:00 on Thursday or 08:45 – 10:45 on Friday 9 August.
Weigh In is mandatory for those sailing on wide wings, and will only be permitted for one try per person, at registration on Thursday or Friday.
Briefing(s): There will be a race briefing at 11.00am on Friday 9th August.
Launching: Is very easy down the slipway into the river. The slipway is also a public slipway therefore must be considerate of other users when rigging boats.
Shipping: The Tyne estuary is a busy shipping channel which you will be launching into, therefore must be aware of potential ships from the right and left when launching and must not pass in front of a ship within 1 NM.
Tides: Tide times will be posted on the event notice board on each morning.
Wednesday 7th August
There will be normal evening club racing within the piers starting at 19.00 and the club will be open from approx. 5.30pm. Sailors are welcome to join in with racing if they arrive early enough. If you plan on arriving before 5.30pm and wish to drop your boat off at the sailing club please contact Ken Ward.
SSSC bar will be open after racing.
Thursday 8th August
We have a video and RIB crew organised to run an afternoon of exercises and practice races, according to the weather and preferences of participants. Briefing/planning at 12:00 at SSSC, aiming to start sailing at 1:00pm.
After sailing, there will be a video debrief in the club. We will organise a delivery of Fish and Chips from the award winning Colemans, to be ordered before sailing on Thursday (not included in entry).
Friday 9th August
Nationals Briefing at 11:00 at SSSC. First race 13:00. Three races back to back.
After sailing their will be a BBQ at SSSC in the evening from approx. 18:30, included in entry fee (Please specify if you are vegetarian on entry).
Saturday 10th August
First race 12:00 Three races back to back.
Curry at SSSC in the evening – included in the entry fee (Please specify if you are vegetarian on entry).
Sunday 11th August
First race 10:30. Three races back to back.
Championship and Regatta prize-giving after sailing.
